Annecy Events Schedule

Next week the Loving Vincent World Premiere will be held at the Annecy International Film Festival, screening in Official Competition. Alongside the screenings we are bringing a selection of special events to the festival, and for fans across the world, we are also hosting a Facebook live with the Van Gogh Museum.

Painting animators who worked on the film will be coming to the festival, and will be demonstrating the techniques used to make the film inside one of our Painting Animation Workstations (PAWS) in the Bonlieu on Thursday 15th June. Guests at the festival who visit the PAWS will also have a chance to win the final painting produced! We’ll also have painters animating Van Gogh’s ‘Wheatfield with Crows’ on a wall in front of Lake Annecy on Wednesday 14th June.

On Tuesday 13th June, on the day of the premiere, we’ll be running a Facebook live as Axel Rüger, director of the Van Gogh Museum, will host a Q&A panel with Loving Vincent co-directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, stars Douglas Booth (Armand Roulin), Robert Gulaczyk (Vincent van Gogh), Piotr Dominak (Head of Painting Animation) and Anna Kluza (Painting Supervisor and Design Painter). Send in your questions now for the panel via social media and we’ll pick the best ones to be asked on the day. The Facebook livestream will be held on the Van Gogh Museum’s Facebook page at 2.40pm (French time).
